"Smith Sizzles in the Sand at Oklahoma Sports Park”
Sapulpa, Oklahoma
Danny Smith wins Saturday nights A Main in Round #8 of the USAC/Wingless Sprints Oklahoma show at Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada, Oklahoma.
Cameron Hagin from Tulsa, Oklahoma ran strong and a close 2nd with Brett Wilson from Coweta, Oklahoma rounding out Top 3 in the nonstop A main event.
Heat race winners were Brett Wilson Heat #1 and Cameron Hagin Heat #2.
Some observations for the night:
-A really entertaining caution free A Main.
-A stopwatch on the wingless sprints in hot laps were in the 18 second range for 1 lap.
-Just good to be Danny Smith as he continues to keep winning a lot lately in his #5$ Orange Taxi.
-Some Crew Chiefs and Drivers work well together and some do not. Nick Newton and Cameron Hagin seem to gel pretty well together.
-Good to see Robert Sellers in the 21 Cothren Sprinter race tonight at OSP.
-10X Sprinter of Brian Debrick ran well in his 305 entry who drove all the way from Dallas, Texas to join in.
-17 Sprints total and motors were 14 Champ Sprints, 2-305's & 1 WOW/WLS Motor with a 4 barrel.
-You walk around, watch and talk and observe racers and their race teams and you really see how much heart, sacrifice, time, effort & money go into their racing operations.
-Fun to watch Jared Baird make his debut in the Barksdale Automotive #22 Sprinter and he had a great 1st night as he loaded car up in good shape in the trailer.
Round #9 is up next at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Oklahoma on Sunday September 2, 2018 for the amazing Meeker 50.0. Followed by 2 more races@ Red Dirt Raceway that will wrap up the 2018 season.
