USAC Wingless Sprints Oklahoma Spotlight Driver: #28 Joe Wood Jr.

Joe Wood Jr. is married to his wife Shena and as of this month they are celebrating their 7th yr. of marriage.

Q/A

Breakfast of choice? Coffee is what motivates Joe in the morning to get the day started as he said to me “Gotta have that Coffee.”

Favorite sport other thank racing? Soccer

Favorite Race Car Driver? His father, Joe Wood Sr. is at the top of his list! As a young up coming Joe Wood Jr., he always liked Johnny Herrera.

Favorite Numbers? The #10 was his go kart number on first race car he drove at MacArthur Park in west OKC at 7 years old and it also was his number in his 1st year in racing sprint cars. When his dad retired Joe Jr. switched to Sr.’s number #03 and says the number was a result of his Great Grandpa, Grandpa and Uncle with #’s 01, 3, 31 to get the #03. Now Joe drives Danny Holloway’s #28 on the USAC/WSO Tour and that was Danny’s old Go Kart # when he raced himself.

Why Wingless Racing? Joe tells me the Wingless Racing is a new challenge as he has not been able to experience much of it around here with all the winged racing. He is excited for the new opportunity there now with the USAC/WSO Series.

Car Owner? Lifetime Friend, Danny Holloway of Oklahoma City, OK. / Indianapolis, IN.

Joe Jr. has started a new business “American Machining Solutions” and with that, it has taken up a lot of his time and so without Joe Sr. the car probably would not make it to the race track.

LaRehna and Jayda are their 2 girls and LaRehna is currently racing an outlaw kart at local area tracks for Woods Racing. When there is a free night off from the sprint car Jayda is currently all about soccer.
